Charity Lawson: All You Need to Know About the 2023 'Bachelorette'

Get ready for the highly anticipated 20th season of "The Bachelorette" as we follow the charismatic Charity Lawson on her quest for true love! Born and raised in Columbus, Georgia, Lawson, a child and family therapist with a master's degree from Auburn University, takes the center stage this season. She is one of three children of David and Vickie Lawson.

You might recognize Lawson from her previous appearance in Bachelor Nation. She was a contestant on the 20th season of "The Bachelor" alongside Zach Shallcross. Her journey on the show took her all the way to the hometown episode, where she introduced Shallcross to her family and confessed her blossoming feelings for him. Although she didn't receive the final rose, Lawson captured the hearts of many fans. Her Instagram comment sections overflowed with support, making her a favorite contestant and raising hopes of her becoming the next bachelorette. In a game of "This or That," "Bachelor" host Jesse Palmer asked her to star in the upcoming season. Before the new season airs on Monday at 9:00 p.m. ET, here's everything you need to know about this 27-year-old Georgia native. A Woman of Strong Values: According to ABC's season description, Lawson is seeking someone who is honest, empathetic, and values her for who she truly is. Compassion holds significant value for her, as evident from her undergraduate volunteer work with the campus kitchen and her participation in mentorship programs. Pursuing a career in mental health counseling, she aims to care for others and emphasizes the importance of nurturing and safeguarding our minds. Looking for a Genuine Connection: Bachelor Nation reveals that Lawson is looking for a genuine connection. Growing up with parents who have been married for 47 years, she holds their marriage as a significant example in her life. Seeking a partner who embodies similar values, Lawson is on a quest for lasting love and a lifelong commitment. Part of Something Bigger: In an interview on the Jennifer Hudson Show, Lawson expressed her honor as the fourth woman of color and the second monoracial African-American woman to hold this role in the franchise. She acknowledges the representation she provides for other women of color, especially young girls who can look up to her and believe that they too can achieve their dreams. What to Expect this Season: This season, 25 diverse men ranging from 24 to 33 years old will compete for Lawson's heart. Among the contestants are a pro wrestler, a yacht captain, and an attorney. The official "Bachelorette" Instagram account has already teased some exciting moments, including a clip of contestant Brayden going in for a kiss during the opening interviews. Lawson herself assures us that the first night is not to be missed. How to Watch and Stream: "The Bachelorette" premieres its 20th season on Monday, June 26, airing from 9:00 to 11:00 p.m. EDT.
