Find Free or Very Affordable Turkeys in Dallas

As Thanksgiving approaches, many families seek a turkey for their table. In Texas, 15.5% of homes face food insecurity, with the North Texas Food Bank experiencing a 15% rise in meal requests since March 2022. We've scoured the web for places offering free or affordable turkeys this holiday season.

Find Free or Very Affordable Turkeys in Dallas

99 Cents Only Stores (Multiple Locations, Wednesday, Nov. 15) The first 50 customers at participating 99 Cents Stores can buy turkeys for 99 cents each on Nov. 15. These stores also offer brand-name groceries for a dollar each, enabling a full meal under $10. Note: The store at 445 W. Buckingham Road in Garland is exempt due to limited freezer space.

Fiesta Mart (4245 Berry St., Fort Worth 10 a.m. – Noon, Friday, Nov. 17) A turkey giveaway at Fiesta Mart on Nov. 17, hosted by Witherite Law Group, DeDe McGuire, and Cat Daddy of K104-FM, offers 1,000 turkeys on a first-come, first-served basis.

UNT Dallas Campus (2300 University Hills Blvd. (South Oak Cliff), 9 a.m. – Noon, Monday, Nov. 20) Tom Thumb/Albertsons and UNT Dallas partner with the North Texas Food Bank for a food distribution on Nov. 20. Approximately 60 pounds of groceries will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis.

Dream Center Dallas (1900 S. Ewing Ave. 1 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 22) Dream Center Dallas hosts a Thanksgiving Drive on Nov. 22, offering ready-to-serve meals on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration isn't required.

North Texas Food Bank Partners More than 26,000 turkeys will be distributed through various Dallas-based organizations. Check their websites and social media for turkey distributions.

Check the North Texas Mobile Food Pantry website or nearby food pantries at Get Food Assistance. Additionally, Kroger offers Butterball turkeys at 99 cents per pound with a $25 purchase, and Albertsons club members get a free turkey with a $75 purchase.
