Unless you've been completely out of the loop, it's common knowledge that Taylor Swift is currently on tour. Even if you aren't familiar with her songs, you're aware that she's on tour. We all know it. And it seems that New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy is just as aware, as he recently declared the "Taylor Swift Ham, Egg, and Cheese" as the official state sandwich, coinciding with Swift's weekend shows at MetLife Stadium.
In a video message shared on Twitter, the governor stated, "In New Jersey, we have a longstanding debate between Taylor ham and pork roll. Usually, we let people call it what they prefer, but since we have a superstar coming to town, we thought it would be fitting to commemorate the occasion."
With a playful nod to Swift's song lyrics, Murphy declared, "Therefore, today we are officially declaring the Taylor Swift ham, egg, and cheese as the official state sandwich of New Jersey. Welcome to New Jersey, Taylor. We've been eagerly awaiting your arrival, and it would have been a disappointing summer without you."
The governor also shared an official decree, stating, "Considering that Taylor Swift is a renowned superstar, and her ability to create meaningful lyrics and deliver record-breaking live performances remains unparalleled; and considering that Taylor Swift will once again grace MetLife Stadium this weekend for her esteemed Eras Tour, where it is no surprise that she will draw an immense crowd larger than the sky."
The decree continued, "On behalf of the state of New Jersey, we hope this weekend exceeds the wildest dreams of the people of New Jersey and Taylor herself."
We have no doubt that the concert will do just that. However, capping off the evening with a delectable Taylor Swift Ham, Egg, and Cheese sandwich will undoubtedly elevate the experience to new heights. On Friday evening (May 26), Taylor Swift electrified the crowd at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., kicking off the first of three sold-out shows at the colossal venue as part of her blockbuster Eras Tour. This tour is projected to earn a staggering $590 million in ticket sales, solidifying its status as the most monumental trek of her illustrious career. Since its launch in March in Glendale, Ariz., the tour has captivated audiences across the country, with upcoming stops in Chicago before concluding in California in August. The three-hour spectacle showcases Swift's expansive catalog, encompassing her chart-topping hits on the Billboard Hot 100 as well as cherished fan favorites from her pop, folk, and country repertoire. Following an energetic opening set by GAYLE and an enthralling performance by the ever-impressive Phoebe Bridgers, Swift took to the stage, welcomed by thunderous applause from the audience. Addressing the crowd, Swift shared, "There is one thing I have dreamt of with the uncontainable excitement of a child on their hundredth birthday – the first night at MetLife." Clearly, this Friday night concert held great significance for Swift. Not only did she showcase three stunning new outfits throughout the night, but she also surprised the attendees by inviting three guest performers on stage. Additionally, concertgoers at MetLife were treated to an exclusive advance screening of the music video for her song "Karma," approximately an hour before its online release.
